TThe 38th IEEE International Symposium on Computer-Based Medical Systems (IEEE CBMS2025) will be held in Madrid, Spain, from June 18th to 20th (2025). Attracting a worldwide audience, CBMS is the premier conference for computer-based medical systems, and one of the main conferences within the fields of medical informatics and biomedical informatics. CBMS allows the exchange of ideas and technologies between academic and industrial scientists. The scientific program of IEEE CBMS 2025 will consist of regular and special track sessions with technical contributions reviewed and selected by an international programme committee, as well as keynote talks and tutorials given by leading experts in their fields. The CBMS 2025 edition also aims to host high-quality papers about industry and real case applications as well as allow to researchers leading international projects to show to the scientific community the main aims, goals, and results of their projects. CBMS solicits submissions on previously unpublished research work. The special issue aims to mainly attract authors who have submitted papers in CBMS 2025 that match within the scope of one of the Artificial Intelligence areas presented below:
- Methods and Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare
- Medical Expert Systems for Clinical Decision Support
- Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery in Healthcare
- Design and Development of Computer-Based Medical Systems using Artificial Intelligence
- Text Mining and Natural Language Processing in Medical Documents
- Medical Imaging and Artificial Intelligence for Diagnostics and Prognostics
- Deep Learning Applications in Healthcare
- Multimodal Medical Data Fusion for Precision Medicine
- Generative Models in Biomedicine for Data Augmentation and Synthetic Data Generation
- Explainable AI and Trustworthy Machine Learning in Healthcare
- Federated and Privacy-Preserving Learning for Biomedical Data Sharing
- Temporal Data Mining and Time-Series Analysis for Predictive Healthcare

Papers to be invited
After the conference, the general chairs and program chairs of different themes of CBMS 2025 will go through all the accepted papers along with detailed review comments. They will identify a set of papers for possible consideration. After discussion after the conference, the chairs will select a final list of 10-15 research papers to be invited for the special issue.
Requirements
All papers submitted to the journal special issue after conference presentation must include significant new materials including both methodology and experimental results. In this respect, we will require at least 50% new materials for this special issue and all papers will go through a peer review process.
