In the era of precision medicine, the increasing complexity of biological systems and the multi-factorial nature of diseases demand innovative approaches for understanding human health and pathology. Network Medicine is a burgeoning field that addresses this challenge by integrating principles of network theory with molecular biology, clinical data, and systems biology. By mapping the interactions between genes, proteins, metabolites, cells, and environmental factors into network models, this approach enables researchers to explore how disruptions in these complex networks lead to disease and how they can be targeted for therapeutic intervention.

This special track aims to create a platform for discussion, collaboration, and knowledge exchange among researchers, clinicians, and professionals at the forefront of Network Medicine. It will focus on recent advances in understanding the molecular networks that underpin diseases and will explore how these insights are being translated into clinical applications.

Topics of interest

Example areas include but are not limited to:

  • Network-Based Disease Classification
  • Network-Based Drug Discovery
  • Multi-Omics Integration in Network Medicine
  • Disease-Disease Networks
  • Gene and Protein Interaction Networks
  • Network Models of Pathophysiology
  • Patient-Specific Network Models
  • Network Resilience and Fragility in Health
  • Integration of AI and Network Theory
  • Epidemiological Networks
  • Therapeutic Targeting of Networks
  • Network Visualization and Interpretability
  • Network Medicine and Rare Diseases
  • Ethical and Computational Challenges in Network Medicine
  • Evolutionary Networks in Medicine
  • Applications of Network Medicine in Public Health

Expected types of contributions

  • Regular papers: The length of the contribution is limited to 6 pages, but it is possible to extend the paper length up to 8 pages by paying for each extra page. Check fees for more information.
  • Short papers: The length of the contribution is limited to 4 pages and no less than 3 pages, not being possible to extend the paper length. The duration of the oral presentation of short posters will be less than regular ones.
  • Posters: The length of the contribution is limited to 2 pages. Poster papers will be included in the proceedings but won’t include oral presentations during the conference. The authors of a poster also need to prepare a real poster to be shown during the conference. For presentation purposes at the conference, the authors must prepare the poster in portrait format. The accepted dimensions are 60 (width) x 80 (length).
